I created my first enemy which is a simple rat with very few frames, even though the rat only has 3 frames for both the walk and attack animation, I feel that it works better than if I had created a longer animation.

for my second enemy type I created a slime, the slime has a longer animation for the movement, the walking animation is longer as the slime compresses before jumping up slightly and then falling back to the ground and compressing from the impact, the attack animation is simple as the slime folds to have some form of eyes and a mouth to spit a projectile at the player.

My player animations consist of an idle animation, in which the player bobs up and down and then jumps inside the hamster ball as if it is getting impatient from waiting, for the movement the player runs inside the hamster ball and the back legs fall down as if it is actually moving inside the ball and not just standing stationary, this is identical but reversed for the movement in the other direction, the jump animation has the hamster ball extend some form piston legs to propel the player up while keeping the hamster in the ball unaffected.
