the first thing I did when creating a somewhat more realistic drawing was create the height of the character and a set of lines to use as a guide on the proportions of the character, I did this as shown in the guide document.

Next I created a rough shape guide of the character, this is done to give a guide for the rough shape, size and position of the character, this guide does is not an accurate guide as the parts are not all in the exact position they belong and it is not even completely connected.

After creating the rough guide i copied it and used it to create a basic human body shape that was all connected and not just a series of shapes, this is to get a general shape before adding any detail

The next step was to remove any unneeded lines and smooth the piece out, I had several attempts at this step and I did not like how any of they looked, I asked a friend for help and she helped to create a better body shape, from this base I further expanded it into a body shape that I wanted to use for my character.

After creating the body shape that I wanted I stared to create clothes for the character, starting from the shoes and working up I created shoes for my character and then worked on a pair of high socks so that the character’s legs are not bare and boring.

Next I gave the character a purple dress as it was not only more simple to draw but I also felt that it was what best fit the theme of the character and it best fit what I felt like the character should look like.

After working on the dress I decided to give the character hair and a face, I did this as I felt that the character looked strange without hair and a face and I forgot to do it earlier, I decided to give the character a long ponytail as I felt like that was what best fit the character I had in mind, I also thought about a shorter ponytail or long straight hair, however I felt like the long ponytail best fit what I had in mind when creating the character.

My final overall design is a slightly slim and muscular female character with a long ponytail, a purple dress, long socks and grey shoes, the design is simple but since I had never tried anatomical drawing I struggled a lot with this piece and I believe that I improved my ability to draw overall and my ability to draw anatomically specifically, I feel like I should have added colour to the character, if I could do it again I would draw a different face as I feel the eyes are blank and strange and I would add colour to the skin and add shading to the character as a whole.
